1- Who You Are Matters

- Describe where you come from

I come from a small family in the suburbs of New York.

- Tell me where you're going

Back to New York, except on my own in a “this looks like a closet” apartment in Manhattan.

- Tell me how you plan to get there

By driving my car from Los Angeles to New York in a last minute-planned road trip. I don’t know where I am stopping or if I’ll remember to get gas before my tank runs out, but I’ll probably get at least one good photo.

- How are you LIKE your parents

Like my parents I feel we are all genuine, good-hearted, and are focused on family and connection. We all enjoy traveling, have an interest in the hospitality industry, and take pride in how we dress. We all joke about each other in a loving way and can predict almost exactly what the other will say within the family.

- How are you UNLIKE your parents

I am much more spontaneous and ambitious than my parents. I tend to live more in the now and my parents tend to be very reserved. I will eat anything put in front of me or travel anywhere I can get a ticket to. My parents, on the other hand, are content with the familiar.

- Have you developed your own expectations for yourself, or if you were honest, would you say you're operating under someone else's expectations?

Recently, I’ve come to realize that I probably have been operating under my parent’s expectations for most of my life. However, now with my own goals and consciousness, I feel more confident in setting my own expectations and achieving them to my satisfaction.

- Who, other than a relative, serves as a model for you of someone who lives life with great passion and personal responsibility?

Just like every other kid growing up in New York, my role model has been Derek Jeter. For those that don’t know, he was a player and captain of the Yankees baseball team during one of the most successful dynasties in sports history. There are very few people who handled the spotlight as well as he did. Always known as a winner, he not only was a phenomenal baseball player but an even better person. He was widely regarded as a great teammate and took his position seriously and always tried to do his job to the best of his ability. To model his success in my life, I try to set ambitious goals like he had and always present myself in the best way possible.

- Connecting with the ANIMAL WORLD: What wild animal do you feel a special connection with, and why?

Dolphins have always been my favorite animal and I feel we are similar in many ways. Dolphins seem to always have a smile on their face and are social animals. After swimming with Dolphins on a vacation and hearing about these outgoing creatures from their trainers I knew we had a special connection. These intellectual bubbly beings feel like the wild animal version of myself.

- Connecting with the NATURE KINGDOMS: Describe a significant childhood encounter with a tree or plant.

In elementary school to raise money my school held a plant sale. According to my parents and my faint childhood memory, I spent a lot of money that day. My house for the next month looked like a small arboretum filled with all the whimsical house plants that I had brought home from school.

  1. I also swam with dolphins on a vacation and it was such a cool experience. They are such fun, smart, and social animals. I have never heard of a plant sale before but I love that idea.

  2. Dolphins and polar bears were my favorite animals growing up! They are definitely smart and outgoing, I have always wanted to swim with dolphins but unfortunately I am terrified of large bodies of water.

  3. Have you made that drive from Los Angeles to New York before or vice versa? My friend did that drive last summer and he said by the time he got halfway he wished he had just took a flight.

  4. My cousin is a florist so our house sometimes looks like a arboretum too/ What made you choose to sell plants over other things like having a bake sale or something?

  5. I saw that you lived in the suburbs of New York. I also grew up around the suburbs of a major city, but I am from the suburbs of Chicago. How do you like New york compared to LA? I know that for me I like Chicago better than LA because it is cleaner, less spread out, and also has better public transportation.
